System-Specific Training: The Article 14 Dimension

This linkage lets you answer regulatory questions about any system’s oversight competency quickly and completely: “Show me the training records for everyone who oversees System X” should be answerable from the inventory in minutes, not days of HR record hunting.

Managing Training for System Updates

When a high-risk AI system is substantially updated — new model version, new feature, changed intended use — Tier 2 and Tier 3 training may need to be refreshed for affected roles. Build a training refresh trigger into your change management process alongside the Technical File update trigger. An oversight person who was trained on System v1 and has not been trained on System v2’s changed capabilities and failure modes is not providing compliant oversight of System v2 — even if their v1 training was excellent.

Practical Delivery: Formats That Work

Article 4 does not specify a training format — the obligation is competency, not classroom hours. The most effective formats for each tier:
